I decided to look into some alternatives for the assets. Just experiments for now, as before, trying to find a look that 'feels' right. What I learned from using the m4 assets is that the key to doing this is to take the bits and pieces to make my own prefabs. This makes things look much more unique. That plus decent lighting and mild post processing makes things look pretty good. Maybe not triple A but definitely better than programmer art.
